主要內(nèi)容:Concave surfaces are ideal for molecular recognition studies as synthetic receptors must present complementary shapes to convex small molecule targets. This lecture describes receptors known as cavitands that use intermolecular forces and fold around their target molecules. The energetics and dynamics of the recognition event are presented, and cavitands outfitted with functional groups on their rims are shown to give rise to unusual reactivity. An example of an amine reacting with a receptor bearing an inwardly-directed aldehyde group is shown below.

Julius Rebek, Jr.教授,1970年獲麻省理工大學(xué)博士學(xué)位,1970-1976年任加州大學(xué)洛杉磯分校助理教授,1976-1989年任匹茲堡大學(xué)副教授、教授,1989-1996年任麻省理工大學(xué)教授,1996年起任美國(guó)Scripps研究所教授,Skaggs化學(xué)生物學(xué)研究所所長(zhǎng),是國(guó)際著名的物理有機(jī)化學(xué)家及超分子化學(xué)家。迄今為止,在世界頂級(jí)期刊發(fā)表科研論文500余篇,其中包括Nature(5篇),Science(11篇), J. Am. Chem. Soc. (167篇),Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.(31篇);發(fā)表綜述論文40篇。
